Benefits of Ohitsu

Keeps Rice Fresh: A Japanese rice bucket is a practical and stylish addition to your kitchenware, as it keeps cooked rice fluffy and fresh without the need for electricity or plastic containers. Craftsmanship: The Ohitsu rice bucket, along with its variations, is carefully crafted in the Kiso region using traditional Japanese methods, making it an example of Japanese craftsmanship. The beautiful vertical grain of the wood and copper tag add to its dignified beauty.

Versatile and Eco-Friendly

Multi-Purpose Use: Use it as a lunch box for outdoor parties, but note that the lid is not airtight, making it unsuitable for carrying liquids. Sustainable Design: Sawara wood, used in the construction of wooden rice buckets, comes from the well-established Kiso region where the Ohitsu is assembled and finished by craftsmen using traditional methods. The beautiful vertical grain of the wood and the copper tag give it a dignified beauty.

Use & Care

Care Instructions:

  • Hand Wash Only: After use, wash the bucket in lukewarm water, wipe dry, and dry in the shade (naturally).
  • Avoid Dishwasher: Incompatible with dishwashers to maintain the integrity of the wood.
  • Maintenance: Resin can sometimes ooze out on the surface. However, it is natural and harmless. You can remove it with rubbing alcohol or lightly file it off with sandpaper. The container should be sufficiently washed with hot water after use to make sure there is not any bit of food left, which can cause black stains. After washing, it should be well-drained, wiped with a dry cloth, and dried in cool, well-ventilated places out of direct sunlight.
