This modern tatami is made in Japan in Yatsuhiro,  kumamoto prefecture guaranteeing an high quality and eco-frienldy concern. This tatami mat was manufactured using natural domestic Igusa rush grass with a thicker skin surface and finer fibers, making it more elastic and durable. 

The surface of the tatami rug is treated with essence of Hiba, extracted from the Hiba tree in Aomori prefecture. The essence of Hiba contains hinokitiol, a natural substance with extremely high antibacterial and deodorizing properties. Being also economical because this rush grass tatami roll mat can be used on both sides.
